Drivers on the New Jersey Turnpike refuse to slow down and move over for tow truck operators

This stretch of road is far too volatile for motorists to creep for every collision. Please keep in mind, NJ (specifically the area coming out of the Lincoln Tunnel), is/was a test area for Eisenhower’s (credited) highway system which was closely modeled after the Nazi Autobahn.

This particular stretch has probably expanded in width and consolidated dozens of times. This isn’t one of the bumfuck stretches of road where operators have time to react to damn near nothing

If this is the stretch I remember, it’s probably speed limit 55. Those cars and trucks are probably in the 60-70 range with less room to maneuver than most at rush hour on the 75/85 connector

I’ve lived in dozens of states. Driven, involuntarily (legally), in another handful

No law maker would EVER allow subjectivity to enter the equation. Would result in a quagmire if traffic court violations in an area that has plenty of criminal accusations to run the business.

If they allow some level of subjectivity it results in protection of the operator....in classic union fashion

The world is based around a very few impactful but simple equations. Binary being the most important and least forgiving

In this particular situation, each passing motorist is far more concerned about what might happen in the lanes of travel than worrying about what amounts to peripheral concerns
