Dude what the heck

It shouldn't.

That says nothing about reality, and everything about where we draw the line between the two.

Imagine for a moment a society where the American Christian right gets to decide all policy - yep, reality will be to the left of that. So will most of the supreme court's right wing justices, Mike Pence, and perhaps even Mussolini.

Now imagine a society where 16 year old activists seize control - equal rights for anyone and everyone, infinite rights for workers, infinitely high taxes on the wealthy with free bags of money to students, single mothers and anyone with an S in their name. Very quickly, you'd notice that reality falls on the conservative side of things.

This is fine - having fringe camps advocating for things that aren't realistic is the way the world works. You demand $15 per hour minimum wage, and eventually settle on $12. If all opposition was removed from any discussion of raising wages, you'd end up destroying the economy.

The issue right now is that in many places, the right has been "winning" for so long that it's moved past reality. Ideally, you'd have a minimum wage that balances employees and employers as fairly as possible across the board. Each side can then cherry pick arguments to raise it or leave it, and reality would probably be somewhere near where it actually is.

So reality having a liberal bias means that the conservatives are too extreme in that case.
