Erykah Badu "Booed" For Defending R. Kelly During Chicago Concert

I get what she's saying but poor execution. What I THINK she's saying is that abuse is a cycle. Abused as a child is likely to lead that person to be the abuser as an adult. If all we do is crucify people instead of trying to actually find a solution to impede this cycle, opportunity to for rehabilitation for both victims and perpetrators, then we create a chance to see some genuine "fixing". I think also understanding what creates this behavior pursuing the roots of it versus the individual will be more effective.

This isn't much of a hypothesis either, people who ultimately become rehabilitated are those who work towards finding the root cause of their behavior and tackling that trigger. That doesn't mean people guilty of abuse should not be punished, it just means allow the possibility to correct their harmful behavior so it doesn't persist.
