I mean, I dont expect anyone want to be around people that don't like them. Doesn't matter who they are. Which is my whole point. You can think thats silly all you want, but its a socially observable fact.

If someone goes to great lengths to let you know how much they hate you, that can cause you to not go to events that you might otherwise go to, but in order to not cause a scene or out of emotional pain or whatever reason, you now have a reason not to be anywhere else. Even big important events like this.

I am not saying your opinion on Trump needs to change. I'm not even saying that's why he specifically didn't go. All I am saying I understand why anyone, Trump included, would have chosen not to be somewhere else.
