It’s not beside the point, it’s directly addressing your point. Nintendo and Sony fully find a lot of these games themselves. Your comparison makes no sense because you didn’t have VHS funding and exclusively releasing certain critically acclaimed movies on VHS. The HBO and Netflix comparison is completely valid. You are taking that extremely literally. You can only access certain TV shows on each platform, which acts to attract consumers to their platform. HBO and Netflix make money off of this, just like Sony and Nintendo create games you can exclusively access on that platform to get people to buy into the ecosystem. How is this not obvious?
