I use 3 x 50g pyrodex pellets or 150g total, but some people only use 100g. I slide them onto a plastic thing, like in the two pictures on this product page This is for my .50 black powder rifle, which is modern rather than historic.. and professionally made. My Pops used an older muzzle loader, but it is still considered modern, that uses actual powder rather than those formed pellets, and he only uses 75g of powder, I believe.

I too was thinking it was a bomb rather than a bullet/gun, I was expecting him to lose his hand or something. I had to pause and double check which sub I was on right before he shot.. his hand being blown off is not something I want to see when I first wake up.
