The Kurdish Women Battling ISIS

This whole 'western nations have shit all over the mideast' thing is so tired and unhelpful.

1) People need to forgive shit that happened before they were born, because everyone has a million years of grievances to get pissed about. blah blah blah treaty of 1914. blah blah blah Israel. What the fuck are we supposed to do about that now other than bitch on reddit?

2) The conspiracy theory shit about the U.S. doing everything for oil is also simplistic bullshit. Yes, oil is important and a factor in foreign policy. No that does not mean it is the only factor. MAYBE that was a significant factor in the Iraq war (it is far from certain). It was certainly not a factor in the Afghanistan war. Conspiracy theories of all kinds are stupid, and people who believe them desire simple answers to complex questions. It is an understandable desire, but does not help answer complex questions. There are plenty of examples of U.S. and western intervention that have nothing to do with oil or Imperialism. It is just that they are never mentioned, such is the way of conspiracy theorists.

3) ISIS was born from the Syrian crisis, which was a revolution against a dictator the U.S. actively opposed. Now the situation is completely fucked, possibly due to the U.S. support of the rebels, which would otherwise have been brutally crushed much faster (now they will be crushed eventually, given Russia's involvement). Why did the U.S. support them? For humanitarian reasons, obviously. No, the U.S. only does things which are unequivocally evil. It was for a pipeline related to, you guessed it, oil.

4) The situation is fucked for the people of Syria, both ISIS supporters, Free Syrian Army supporters, and Assad supporters. There is no hope for them, one of them will emerge victorious and kill the rest, and that is bad for normal people in Syria, ISIS or not.
