LPT: If someone tells you they don't drink alcohol, don't ask them why.

At my workplace, my coworkers CONSTANTLY. Nag me to drink. "It's fun" "Why not?" call me a prude, say it's boring, whatever.

In reality, it's for two reasons.

  1. I'm a vegan. It's hard to find alcohol that's vegan even if I wanted to drink. Not to mention it's not good for you.
  2. My father has narcissistic personality disorder, which resulted from the abuse he went through with his alcoholic father, and my father also became an alcoholic around age 42, if I had to guess.

  3. Who the hell even cares why? I said no, you can do what you want to your body but not mine. You'd better fuck right off.

The thing that drives me the most insane is that, vegans have a reputation for 'forcing their beliefs down others' throats'

Well I've never asked anyone else to be vegan. Not once. However, I've had several semi-truckloads' worth of people who demand I drink alcohol like they do, demand that I eat meat because they do, criticize me for not having the same lifestyle choices as them. I don't even know where the 'evil vegan' stereotype comes from because out of all the vegans I know (literally 85% of my friends) I've only experienced this behavior from non-vegans.

Not that all non-vegans will do this, I just think it's infuriatingly ironic.
