Is MD out of the question?

Don't be afraid man,

I took the exam three times,

28, 21 and then a 509

My CARS score was a 123 and I got 6 MD interviews and 1 MD acceptance.

However, IT IS IMPORTANT, you have your entire application (including secondaries) turned in by august. Also, make sure you really sell yourself, and try to include some of your hobbies in your personal statement.

Make sure you look up schools that do not average and only consider recent mcat. Here is a list from SDN that I used that proved to be invaluable.

Albany Medical College: Looks at all considers most recent score Albert Einstein: Most recent Boston University: All scores SUNY Buffalo: Highest score Columbia: Highest score Cooper: Highest score Dartmouth: All scores, latest given most weight Drexel: All but "interested in most recent" Duke: emphasis on highest score Eastern Virginia: Two most recent scores with a note on the highest score Frank Netter: High score Georgetown: Most recent GWU: Superscore Harvard: only looks at highest score Hofstra: Highest score JHU: Emphasis on most recent Loyola: All scores, "highest score given most weight" Medical College of Wisconsin: Super score Michigan: Highest or all? Also, I only applied to 11 MD schools, all low tiers except for one. Also, I'm not a URM, and not from Texas.

ALSO, study for a retake during your year off just in case things don't pan out. Just study verbal over the course of the year, so if nothing works out, You can retake the mcat one last time in May.

Apply, and don't listen to SDN, they don't know what the fuck happens in the admissions.

And Make sure you tailor your application to really match the mission and values of those schools you apply to.
