To add to this, an insanity defense does not mean this kid is going to walk. He killed people after showing signs of mental illness (to whatever degree, not a mental health expert).
He's going to be put in a hospital in a hospital for a long time taking meds that could basically lock him in his own body for years.
Does this punishment fit the crime? I really don't know. He was acting out and asking for help by expression, and was completely ignored by his parents and school staff (from what I understand).
What I do know is that there is life lost here due to mental health ignorance on many levels and huge irresponsibility on the parent's part.
