Like common law marriage? I'm sorry but this make absolutely zero sense. None whatsoever. First idk why he is so against being considered common law. Second the minute you move in together you are not considered common law, while there is not set amount of time in any state that recognizes it no court will consider a newly moved in couple as a common law marriage. Third only a handful of states recognize it at all. Fourth just cause you live together a long time doesn't automatically make you eligible for common law marriage, there are other compounding factors that need to be happening as well (i.e. filing joint taxes or openly acting like a married couple and referring to ourselves as a married couple or going by the same last name, etc) and the fact that ur bf wants you to waste money on rent for a place you won't be living in for such a non issue stupid reason imo is concerning.
