It's not yet over. Let Valve know that paid mods will never be accepted.

Oh for fucks sake shut the fuck up. Through a concerted effort Reddit, nexus, the steam forums and everywhere else have made it abundantly clear that they do not support paid mods. many people have also made it abundantly clear that while paywalling mods is a terrible idea. Many people have also expressed that they wouldn't necessarily be opposed to donating to modders as well.

Valve has already acknowledged that they sort of stepped into the deep end of the shit pool with a poorly thought out iteration of modder compensation and how different other mod development communities are in comparison to Valve's own. We provided feedback, Valve is taking it all in and has already scrapped their old system which is a good first step.

I find it hilariously fucking ironic that you keep referring to this whole debacle as Valve's way to make big bucks, and will relentlessly attempt to do so when that wasn't the point at all. Not to mention failing to do so spectacularly. At the heart of this idea it is obvious that Valve wants to support modding. What they brought about was fundamentally flawed on a number of levels and contradicted this desire.

If you want to encourage conversation with Valve about how they can go about creating a system that isn't as blatantly exclusionary to gamers and provides fair compensation for content creators by all means.

But if you're sole purpose here is to attempt to perpetuate the outrage machine, then I would say that you should just fuck right off and actually read the Newell AMA and subsequent fallout threads to educate yourself about what's actually been happening.

We don't need some fucking asshole standing on their soap box ranting incoherently about how offended they were by the old, and now defunct paid-modding system. We have plenty already.
