The "obstruction of my front door" that prevented UPS from delivering my package...

Or it's very possible neither is lying. It's peak season right now, so everyone involved in shipping is overloaded until early to mid January. Some people get stressed and can't be arsed to follow anything past standard protocol, meaning they'll call your trashcan in the walkway an 'obstacle.' Meanwhile there's also a crapton of new hires screwing shit up everywhere, whether that be producing misloads (package sent on wrong truck route,) theft, negligence on proper care of packages, general laziness, etc. Training for seasonal hires, unfortunately, isn't always the most thorough.

People always bitch about the system and how their package is late or their delivery man is shit -I was a chronic complainer too, but if you've ever worked at UPS, you know it's not a cakewalk. A lot of people don't even know what happens before the package gets on a truck. Even forgetting about getting containers full of packages off cargo jets or long-haul truckers hours, it's hectic. Unloaders have to work at break-neck speed to dispatch a trailer full of packages in order to make sure drivers can leave to hit their route on time. Loaders have to keep up with that same flow of packages, read the label, and make sure they all get on the right truck (or risk getting chewed out for producing misloads.) And most drivers are doing 9-12 hr shifts; most of which is spent running in and out of the truck with all your shit. You are pushed to the limit to get everything done in the least amount of time in order to be more profitable. Ironically, that leads to a lot of chaos and people not always getting their packages on time.
