Oh, you were often compared to monkeys, beetles and crows? Well I would get called stuck up. We’re EVEN.

My lil sis' complexion is on the lighter side and she got it too from folks. They would make fun of her skin color that stuck with her. And she never felt privileged. Those who made fun of her felt like that and put words in her mouth. All she wanted was to fit in like everyone else. This shit gets on my nerves, especially when it comes from my people.

They used to do that shit with slavery. Separate and divide people based on their skin color. Do you think house slaves who were light skinned felt save in the slave master's house? To be under the watchful eyes of people who oppressed and terrorized you every single damn day in their house? No, they didn't.

Yeah, some light skin slaves got some privileges depending on where they were stationed at, but they would have to be incredibly lucky. For the most part imagine feeling like you belonged to no one. You're not white, but also you're not black enough.

Hmmmm... Sounds a lot like what's happening today. We do it to ourselves now. It's fucking maddening and sad. For those who are conscious of this continue to call these lame ass behaviors out because it's fucking wack and needs to be addressed.
