"Oh you're a chef? When are you opening your own restaurant?"

I hear this ALL THE TIME. I post my food to IG but I only cook for friends and family. When asked why not a restaurant I always simply say “because I don’t like people”. Ofc there is way more to my reasoning. I could never put in the time and dedication that so many others do when it comes to restaurants and food service. I have so many friends that I am amazed at their dedication and effort and simply shake my head and say “yup. Fuck that. I love sleeping too much!”

Not al chefs have to work in or own a restaurant. And to your point. That’s fine! It’s too fleeting and fickle an industry for everyone to be in it. It’s more than just being a talented cook.
