Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signs bill allowing people to carry concealed firearms without training or permits

No amount of tragedy will ever change peoples minds that what we are doing in the US regarding gun laws, we need to make changes. It's simply not working. The general population has not proven they are responsible enough to have unfettered access to guns.

I grew up around guns. I own guns. Grew up in a state that never had carry laws. Never an issue. We didn't have much if any gun violence outside domestic stuff. People think because they are the righteous ones that the herd will act in kind, but it's just not the case.

When I learned to drive my father, who was a trucker from the old school when it meant they were truly the guardians of the road, he told me repeatedly, always assume every driver out there had a bad day. Just got in a fight with their spouse. Maybe had one too many drinks at lunch. Is a 16 year old with a yet to be formed brain. Etc.

And that's how I treat every gun owner. Like the dipshit that left a loaded weapon in their car for their infant to grab. I don't bestow this nobile title of responsible gun owner to everyone. People simply can't be trusted to do the right thing. And we have to start treating people how they are. Not how we want them to be. And frankly, they are fucking awful at having unfettered access to firearms in the states.

Again, as a gun owner, I wish to hell I didn't feel obligated to own them. I'd love to be rid of them. But we just aren't there. So I treat people as they are. Not as I want them to be.
