Based on the way history as a pendulum works, we are either going to swing far left again or land in the center (which is more ideal). The author does not state if the pendulum paused to the far right with Reagan, but you can infer that he did not mean the pendulum stopped in the middle.

It is ironic that many conservatives responded to the Obama presidency (which they presumed went too far Left) with electing extremists (with often racist and anti-American values) as a response. Whereas, Obama was a reaction to Bush, Jr., the next president should have been more in the center of the pendulum--but, we all know that did not happen.
