Snowden Deserves Petraeus-Like Deal, Backers Say: 'Gen. Petraeus violated the law to impress a girlfriend. Edward Snowden released confidential information in order to bring attention to overwhelming and pervasive constitutional violations.'

You seen to be laboring under the mistaken belief that a breached trade deal is an embargo. This is not the case.

No, I'm not.

Absolute bullshit. While the military had a roll in some aspects, network development was occurring in many places simultaneously. Many of the technologies you mentioned had concurrent civilian and military development.

How do you go from "absolute bullshit" to they "had a roll (sic)" so quickly? Which one is it?

Were wiretapping the people who are working with us and calling into question their independence from us.

And they're wiretapping us too. What's your point?

The NSA is actively sabotaging the political campaign of anyone who is friendly with the US.

No, it's not.

Have you ever lived outside of the United States in your life? Casual antiamericanism is fairly common and this is fuel for the fire.

No, but I've visited tons of places overseas and I work with people in foreign countries on a daily basis in the energy market. I know that this anti-American sentiment has been going on for decades. The height of it was when Bush was president. It's much less now even given the NSA revelations. That's why I know you're wrong. Only very young Americans were surprised by any of this stuff.

The CIA intentionally withheld information about the 9/11 hijackers from the FBI

LOL! Again, you don't understand the roles of the different agencies. That was perfectly normal procedure at the time. Now the rules are different and there is much more information sharing, but at the time the CIA took care of international matters and the FBI took care of domestic matters, so the separation of information wasn't uncommon.

The NSA seems pretty fucking keen on destroying internet security measures, so yeah apparently they don't give a damn about the world economy.

So you're saying that because the NSA wants back doors into routers that they are for the collapse of the world economy? Seriously, how old are you? What do you think happens to their budget when the country has less money to spend? You're not a very good chess player are you?

The Presidents own committee which he hand picked to relate the NSA disagrees with you and stated in their own recommendations that the NSA needs to stop undermining security measures.

They don't disagree with me. They basically want the NSA to change its procedures so they look more transparent. But nothing will change at the end of the day besides what they tell the public. And probably how they hire programmers.

Not according to google, Cisco, or many of the other companies who are losing money because of the NSA.

Nobody's losing money because of the NSA. Google and Cisco stock are at record highs.

Tldr: You should read the news and get an actual understanding of world politics, it'll do you good.

You should read a history book and get some perspective on current events, it'll do you good. The NSA isn't doing anything wrong and this doesn't even make the top 100 of problems in the world. And most importantly, people like you who disagree with it aren't willing to do anything to change your behavior to discourage private companies from cooperating with the NSA. If everybody switched from GMail to Hushmail overnight, then Google would probably change. But you won't, so they won't.
