In March, I spoke to Yurii Sheliazhenko, a peace activist based in Kyiv, which was under attack from Russian forces in the early stages of the brutal and illegal invasion of Ukraine. There's no "although". This is a binary statement. Russia either did or didn't have a right to invade, and specifically, they didn't. No condition following the "although" changes this or makes them sort of have a right to invade.
