Today I met my SO's family and it went incredibly well, how did meeting your SO's family go?

I met my husbands family on Thanksgiving Night at about 10 pm. We had just spent all day looking for a guy who had ripped us off the night before, but for some reason my husband wanted to go meet his parents. We got out there, and his mom whisked him away to the backroom and left me out in the kitchen talking to his dad. His dad is a doctor and was bitching about his job and thank goodness my mom is a nurse, so I understood exactly what he was bitching about because otherwise, I wouldn't have known what to do. We had been raving/partying all week and were pretty out of it. I had lost a lot of weight and looked really bad. I thought for sure his mom pulled him back to the bathroom to tell him to stay away from me because his dad finally got around to third degreeing me in the kitchen and it wasn't going well. I was older by then (32) and wasn't going to take any of his crap, but I was nice about it. Finally, he came out with his mother and told me it was time to go, so I didn't really get a chance to meet her. I thanked her profusely for being so nice to us even though it was so late and we left. I was so embarrassed by the whole thing because I didn't know that we were going to go out there and didn't dress well and looked terrible. I hadn't prepared for any of it and hadn't even gotten my story straight with him about what we had done all day. I shouldn't have worried, though. It turned out that his mother had loved me at first sight. I was thin. She didn't know it was from drugs, partying, and not eating all week, but all that mattered was a I was thin. She had taken my husband to the back room to shave him, cut his hair, and chastise him for wearing the clothes he was wearing--of course, none of which mattered to me. His brother had just gotten married to a whisper fat women. His brother is the golden child, so this was a huge deal in his family because he was supposed to marry a thin women and my SIL was a huge disappointment. Did I mention that his family is completely screwed up in the head pretty much about everything? I realize how screwed up they were, but I guess the first meeting went pretty well--even if it was for all the wrong reasons.
