If ever I wanted to say “This,” and just leave it at that. But I can’t. I’m really troubled by the genuinely kind people I know who have friends and family who are minorities, immigrants, LGBTQ+, black Americans, who also support Trump, or at least did in the past. They are few but they are also people I’ve known my whole life. I can’t reconcile it, it’s irreconcilable. But I know them. They exist. The scary part is that none of them are stupid. They’re educated and brainwashed. I prefer to believe most of these people are just racist idiots, but I know a few who aren’t at all stupid or ill-meaning, and that’s what really scares me.
