I went to a plastic surgeon today

He sounds like an asshole, and I’m sorry for your experience. He has no business telling you what meds to take.

I did just get my boobs done, and my (very nice, polite, and respectful) plastic surgeon asked for a medical release from my psychiatrist certifying that I was stable enough for the surgery. My husband is a primary care physician and said it’s very standard procedure to get primary care physicians and psychs to sign off before people get surgery to certify that they are stable. It’s just a CYA standard procedure. Just wanted to let you know so you are mentally prepared for another plastic surgeon to ask for the same sign off from your psych.

Again, the dude sounds like an asshole, arrogant surgeon who is way out of his league when it comes to medicine, so I hope my comment doesn’t come across as invalidating of your experience. Some of the most painful moments of my life were experiences I’ve had with dismissive or judgmental doctors, so I know how bad these encounters can hurt. Especially when you are in such a vulnerable situation as getting plastic surgery.
