My MD kept prescribing me bipolar meds, and BPD patients are often given bipolar meds, so here is the breakdown of what I've taken over the past few years.
Lamictal: Increased my depression. Abilify: Was initially amazing, evened out my mood swings, decreased my sex drive into nothingness, then made me extremely suicidal at the lowest dose. Definitely do not recommend. Celexa: I liked it, but was at a low dose. Only gave it a few months before wanting to switch to something stronger, so can't give much input. Topamax: Currently at the highest prescribed dose. Is a mood stabilizer. Seems to be the best so far, gives me a side effect of infrequent tingling in my legs, does make me feel more stable but not extremely so. I do have a severe case of BPD, however. Wellbutrin: Currently on 400mg a day. Definitely feeling happier on this. Also decreasing my appetite, but also decreasing my sex drive.
My current combo of Wellbutrin/Topamax is making me feel a little disinterested/robotic and my partner is noticing but it's decreased my outbursts/splitting to a few episodes a month, so that's progress. I was having a few a week.
Hope this helps!
