YSK Declawing your Cats is like cutting off each of your fingers at the last knuckle

For everyone saying declawers are horrible people just worried about their furniture, that’s not always accurate. My parents had our cat declawed twenty years ago because as a child, the cat got surprised when I was holding it and scratched me very deeply in two occasions (had to go to the hospital and get antibiotics). In retrospect, I feel very badly for the cat, but at the time, my parents were told it was the best option and as a child, it wasn’t my decision to make. Now, as a slightly anxious adult with a small child, I simply choose not to own a cat at all.

I think there are lots of people who are not maliciously declawing their cats, but are merely ignorant and have been given wrong information. Let’s spread the word in a kind way, folks.
