You just have to keep putting yourself out there. Your lack of trust or skepticism seems to be rooted in some idea that women are out to get you. Both men and women are just seeking genuine connection in life, sure there might be a few bad eggs, but you can generally weed those out pretty early.

Your self esteem also seems to be getting in the way, women are just people there’s nothing to be afraid of, just be yourself, don’t let your head get in the way. I’m a 5 at best and my last was a 9, it’s all about just being genuine. From my understanding looks really only matter in online dating, in real life looks only get you so far, people like someone they can talk to. Best of luck!
