Acute Xanax withdrawal or alcohol?

I agree with Fayok. I believe you'll be fine, long story short I was on Benzos for 9 years. That's it, nothing else except alcohol. I stopped in August. I'm also stating that I am not a medical professional, so take my advice how ever you want. You're short term use ( months ) shouldn't have any long term withdrawl symptoms. I highly suggest stopping the Xanax all together, you'll start to feel better the longer your off them. As for alcohol I would taper off from your usual drinking schedule over a week's time and then try to take a break for just a month. Look at it as a kind of reset on your system, it will give your brain a break. Trust me I love beer too, so look at this as a thing you have to do so you can enjoy beer in the future. I suggest you also try some sort of exercise during that month, I'm not joking when I say that the excerise really helps speed up the recovery process, I'm not talking extreme stuff, just a short jog or anything that gets you active. After reading your story, the one thing I can say is being on Benzos can make your anxiety worse. When you're not on the benzos your brain doesn't know how to naturally calm itself down, it's looking for the mess. So there fore you think "I have bad anxiety I should take more meds". This is why literally every day you're off of the Xanax you'll get better, your brain is naturally fixing itself.
