Anyone else got scammed at the Subsdance Studio auction today?

Talking about dodgy people selling fake goods, steer well clear of Chinese website AliBaba - the biggest website in the world. They go under various names including AliExpress and Wish. If you are buying anything on the Net you will find them everywhere.

They have inundated Google and eBay. Counterfeit goods made in China and Laos bearing familiar names and logos including Nike, Gold's Gym, G-Shock and Marvel Comics. And they do everything to disguise the fact that they are AliBaba and Chinese. On eBay they give their location as Sydney or Melbourne, they rip off pics of western bodybuilders and athletes wearing the genuine goods and their email addresses and domains are au ones, or variable if you are using a vpn.

When I started at the gym I bought some Gold's Gym gear, wore it to the gym and was told by one of the PTs that it was fake. Gold's gear is made in the US and bears the logo and "Made in the US" on the back tab area. Similarly the "Nike" shoes fell apart after a few sessions on the treadmill.

So it isn't just a dodgy auction at a dance studio in Kingston you have to be wary of. Counterfeit goods are big business, and in the case of AliBaba the biggest business of all.
