Are we tipping for carry-out orders now?

I'm in the industry. Tipping sucks. Tip-out sucks. To-go's get a tip from me, but it's rounded to the nearest dollar because I have major problems with OCD.

I've waited tables part-time on top of my full-time job for over 10 years because I like Land Rovers and nice things.

I always leave a 15 percent tip. It's often closer to 20 percent unless I get an awful server.

I've only left a tip over 100 percent once. The server was perfect, but to be honest, I told her how to be perfect.

On a business trip, i had one of the hardest/worst days of my career. I went to the resturant/bar in the popular hotel and the server came to greet me. I immediately ask the server if she was closing, to which she said yes. I told her my story, showed her my room key to prove I wasn't driving, and told her to keep re-orderdng me my favorite appetizer and my Makers Mark Manhattan with four cherries until they closed, at which time she would bring me the check. Otherwise, she should not talk to me.

I didn't want to say a word to her unless I wanted to change my order. I just wanted to read my novel and relax. Five hours later she brought my check, I signed it and left. The manager called my room about 20 minutes later and asked if I meant to leave a $140 tip. I drunkly told him yes and asked if the same server would personally deliver more manhathans to my room.

The restaurant didnt send any more drinks, but she was the best server I've ever had. Never even learned her name.
