I think the reason why people feel like it’s a “good” argument is because It’s an easy argument to throw at a person who has doubts and fears.

Not everyone has doubts but I sure did and a lot of trans people I know did too. I wondered stuff like: will I ever pass, what if I can’t grow a beard, what if transitioning makes my dysphoria worse or my life even harder, etc. I also wondered if I was “really” trans or just really bad at being a woman (turns out I was both, haha).

It’s easy to get an emotional reaction from someone who already has questions and doubts and that makes it an effective strategy whether it’s logical or not. It’s about getting inside our heads and manipulating us.
