"the actual wetlands pictured are being removed as well.”

"I believe that it’s also important to note that about half of the coastline in the Frenchman’s Creek Nature Reserve is to be removed, and it absolutely includes by far the most scenic sections of the nature reserve’s coast.

There are historical sites in each of the main areas to be removed. Also, the main cave at West Harbour Bluff has what prominent cave scientists have identified as the best example of fossilized tempestite (deposited by a previous catastrophic storm) conchs that they have seen in the hundreds of caves they researched in their long career."

"Changes are being made to our National Parks and many of our most beautiful areas are being removed. A 'wise-use' clause is being added which will allow for development in any National Park and dredging of our beaches. These areas being taken are popular with local citizens, residents and tourists alike. Beaches, ironshore, caves, Karst formations, ruins, and historical rock carvings will be lost forever.

Please send an email to [email protected] opposing the changes. Specifics to include are:

(1) 'No' to the reduction of the Frenchman's Creek and Pigeon Pond Nature Reserve (West Harbour Bluff/Split Rock/Pirate's Cove and some of the Caribbean's finest wetlands and birdwatching).

(2) 'No' to the reduction of world-acclaimed Chalk Sound National Park (recently featured on the Weather Channel with our content).

(3) 'No' to the wise-use development clause.

These changes are not being publicised in the Turks and Caicos Islands and many of our citizens and residents are unaware of this."
