China wants to give all of its citizens a score – and their rating could affect every area of their lives: The Communist Party wants to encourage good behaviour by marking all its people using online data. Those who fall short will be denied basic freedoms like loans or travel

That actually is an interesting idea...if it was the opposite way.

Instead of punishing people for low scores (which is insane), what if a country adopted a scoring system that rewarded you...like if you never commit a crime, you get points; if you never even get tickets driving, you get points; if you get a college education, you get points; if you do community service, you get points; if you finish high school with a certain GPA, you get points...etc. All the good we want to promote in society, you'll get points for.

And then the highest rated people get a small tax break of a few percent or something, as they're contributing more than the average person already without also giving their money up. Say something like, if your average effective tax rate for federal income is 20%. If you score 70 and below, you get no break. If you score 70-80 you get a 1% break, 80-90% a 2% break, and 90-100% a 3% break.

If you knew from a young age that graduating high school and paying attention would lead to you paying less taxes later in life, you may be more inclined to do it. Same with getting a degree. Same with helping people in your community. Same with not selfishly breaking the rules of the road. So we'd have a bunch of more educated, more community conscious people walking around.
