Dating as an average/below average looking woman is just as soul crushing and seriously Reddit, I'm sick of every other popular post implying otherwise

I have no idea where the top 20% figure actually came from but if anyone has any sources let me know. I do agree with you though OP, it sucks when people (basically men on reddit) think they've got a monopoly on loneliness and difficulty dating. Tinder is an absolute nightmare for finding an actual relationship and just a normal nightmare for something casual. I fortunately found someone who likes me for me but holy shit it was terrible using dating apps, to get any sort of attention I'd have to drastically change things about myself and I do get that a lot of people don't find gender nonconformity attractive but a lot of men on reddit seem to think you can just take a mirror selfie and suddenly there's like hundreds of attractive people just waiting to have sex with you. It's more like spend hours putting on makeup etc, changing so much about yourself not just in terms of physical appearance, and then hoping that people aren't creeps. I think online dating sucks for everyone but if you're not exceedingly attractive even just casual flings are hard to come by. Not entirely related but I think meeting people specifically for a relationship makes things a lot harder than building friendships and having them eventually evolve into something else.
