We are all accountable for our actions. Maybe it’s not a nice truth, but it’s a truth nonetheless. I’ve been bullied, harassed, sexually assaulted, and abused. The times I contemplated suicide and the time to took a bunch of pills are on me; I’m accountable for my decision to take too many pills. I made that choice, no one else. You could blame my abuser. You could blame my PTSD. But I, me, made that choice.

Absolutely horrible circumstances lead to horrible mental states; I’ve been there myself and have all the empathy in the world for it. The actions we take in those states are, however, still choices. Very rarely are we absolved of our accountability for ourselves and the choices we make.
