You’re way overthinking every angle of this. Yeah, I wouldn’t care if someone used a different location a “half mile” away, but that’s not what most people do. And, if you live somewhere that densely packed that there are five different towns so close together and you’re dealing with a psycho stalker who really wants to find you, that’s not exactly NSA-level trickery that it’s not going to occur to them to search the adjacent towns. If someone really wants to find you, they’re going to find you. Hell, having your real name and the state is better information that a fake name and your real zip code. And anyone who is not a total psycho would totally understand that you used an alias for your public profile if you tell them later once you trust them a bit. If that’s a dealbreaker for them, that’s not someone you want to be with.
