LPT: Teenagers, if you have a toxic friend, cut them off.

I had to do this with two of my "best friends." They liked to turn on me and make fun of me and team up and decide on things they knew I wouldn't like or be down with just to make me upset. One night I got a prank phone call very clearly from one of them, even though he denied, denied, denied it was him, but it had to be him because the prank call was something only he knew...sure, it's possible that he told someone else who decided to prank call me, but even if that were so, he told someone. I was getting really tired of both of their BS, so I told them off, and cut ties with them. They of course, tried to reconcile, but I was done. I ignored them, they were dead to me. I'd walk down the hall and they'd try to say hi, but I knew if I forgave them and took them back as friends, in a few months, they would pull another stunt. The stunt before the prank call was running off together, leaving me alone in a park late at night while we were waiting for someone to pick us up. I was tired of the emotional abuse.

They would say nasty things about me, they would egg my house countless times, they would write notes to each other in class and look at me and laugh and then they'd throw the note in front of me, trying to see if I would pick it up and read it and they'd walk by to see if it was ever picked up.

Even though I treated them like they were invisible to me, even though they continued to make my life hell for the remainder of the school year (which happened to be our senior year, whew!) I knew it was for the better. It was better to just ignore them than have them as "friends."

Fast forward a few years, and I see the guy in college, (we both went to the same community college, but luckily, I was able to dodge him, but then he ended up transferring the to same university as me) and he sees me and says, "OMG, cookofthesea! Is that cookofthesea?! Hi cookofthesea, hi!"

I just kept walking past him, and then he shouts out back at me, "four fuckin' years and you still won't talk to me?" But, of course, everyone was staring at him and thinking he was some crazy dude, which he was/is. I sometimes think about how my life would have ended up had we remained friends. I'm sure there would have been some really fun times, but I also think I would have had a lot of other BS, too and I'm glad I don't.

Of course, I started cutting everyone out who had too much drama and now I have no friends, but, I don't have to deal with anyone's drama! woo hoo!
