I had an idea which is totally unlike anything I've done before, and I thought that I would help cheer some people up on Valentine's Day as it can be a lonely and depressing day for some.
I'm going to be writing out 10-20 cards and leaving them around the town centre, and if I feel confident enough I'll be giving them to some girls who I think deserve it.
Do you think this would come across as strange? And, if it were you, how would you react?
I won't be leaving any contact details in there, as I feel that is a bit creepy, and kind of removes the good spirit from the idea.
Also, this is the first poem I've written in my adult life, so it may not be amazing, but I'm pretty impressed with my self if I'm honest.
I may have some other questions, but it's earlt right now so my brain hasn't woken up completely yet. If I think of anything else I'll edit it into my post.
But anyway, to the poem:
For You
This is for you, on this day of cruelty,
The day you feel the pressure from the community.
Where you feel the pain that was latently forgotten,
When you experience the burden that is truly rotten.
On this day, you may feel unloved,
Your only desire may simply be to be hugged.
But don't give up hope on finding the one,
Their light will shine through like the morning sun.
One day they will come with the key to your heart,
And open your eyes to what was there from the start.
You are beautiful, both in mind and matter,
Don't let your insecurities make your world shatter.
Someone will find you perfect, no matter what you think,
They will love your imperfect perfections, and you'll be completely in sync.
Don't let your view become clouded by tears,
For you are far beyond your fears.
From someone who cares to someone who may not,
Don't let this vicious holiday leave your heart in fraught.
As I said, you will find the one,
Whether it's now, or tomorrow, your life has only just begun.
Open your eyes, and open your heart,
Let someone in where once was dark.
Let them be the shimmer that brightens your life,
For you are not the only one that lives with strife.
Never give up, never concede,
Never let this world bring you to your knees.
Think of today as an oppotunity,
To find that person to provide you unity.
Not a day to conform or bring you down,
As the people around you may not deserve the crown.
I'm writing this now, hoping to lift your spirits,
Hoping to make you realise you're beyond your limits.
Hoping that your day isn't filled with sorrow,
And even if it is... there's always tomorrow.
