Name and Shame LSUHSC-Shreveport Internal Medicine

Ah, yes. There it is, rough areas are not deserving of medical care.

I could get down with everything you ranted about except that. It's a good part of training to work in underserved areas. Getting that experience in the knife and gun club. Pushing the limits of your training and your endurance. Yes, it's a literal hot garbage fire shit show. Maybe you don't plan to give back. Maybe you aren't a NHSC scholarship student. Maybe you aren't a J1 waiver resident. Maybe you'll never even have to drive through the bad part of town ever again. But if those "citizens in psychiatric crisis roaming the streets" can't even have your basic level of human dignity...should you even be a doctor?

Don't get me wrong. I had a shitty program with shitty program direct and I'm glad my program is dead. Our job is people. Sometimes we're their only lifeline. You're burnt out I can feel it. Just make it through the bullshit. Try to make it just a bit better and get the fuck out of there before it changes you.
