Okay, am I a prick or are ya with me here!?

I think what bugs me about the mentality a lot of cooks have is- We CHOOSE this. We arent heroes. We dont save the world, and never will. Yeah- At the core our job is to make people happy and it comes with a lot of time and effort- But Im not above others for doing it. Im just a guy who likes to cook more than he likes evenings and weekends. I mean at least Im doing something I love! My father used to vac industrial waste out of old factories. I remember when he did this week long job in Ontario that required him to wear a sealed heat suit 12 hours a day. The vacuum he used was strong enough to kill on contact, and the environment he was in was so hot it would melt your skin if you touched it to any thing- Hence the suits. They'd take turns in there and you'd come out swimming in your own sweat.

His job was a lot worse than anything we've ever done- And he only did it for the money!

But fair enough. Most office workers have it so easy. With their three breaks a day and their benefits.
