Protest flags on the campus of Harvard Law School this morning.

It doesn't sell, the same way DUI deaths don't. Take black on black crime. How would you sell it? thugs? gangsters? robbers? who is a thug, gangster, or robber? either could be a white guy...or Canadian...or Asian girl. I can find you thousands of pictures depicting a police officer. Any police officer will do because it's a blue uniform, a badge, and a gun. But anyone could be a thug, gangster, robber, or person about to drive under the influence. I bet someone has killed someone in a drive-by wearing a nice business suit....after an office party.

The same people committing homicides are the same one killing through DUI...it's anyone. It could be your uncle. Just as a kid with problems or gang affiliation could be 'addressed' with a concerned parent....someone trying to drive after drinking could be addressed by a concerned parent or friend. We don't broadcast it because we likely all know someone or know someone who knows someone who's could be capable of it.

these things don't sell because they're sad truths.

Police killings are preventable truths, that anyone can get behind. "They" have a badge and a uniform. Not a bandana, need for money, psychological problems, and/or alcohol. The media would have us believe that even 1 is too many. I'm not subscribing to that idea. I think that it's going to happen. Given the size of our population, size of the police force. ....It's a sad truth that it will exist.

The ONLY real problem I have with this is that 'some' protesters are making this about one race only. So it's really resembling blacks versus cops when it should be citizens against police misconduct. I stand behind policy reform, but can't stand with the crowd because I've seen how certain races are treated. I'm a NM resident, when misconduct happens here, I write Tom Udall. I can't protest, i've been told my opinion is invalid because I can't see it. At the end of the day, I really feel that many believe a white person simply can't understand it and therefore can't be part of their fight. And that's what's sad to me. It shouldn't be their fight, but our fight. Bring a reasonable discussion to the table, and I'll sit in. Bring bricks and a clause against certain races...I have to skip out.
