Sanders Campaign Statement on Clinton’s Comments

I'm quickly evolving to the issue and you know who set me on this path about 2 months ago? A client of mine (for non-political work) that I am help running for re-election who happens to be a superdelegate that has formally endorsed Hillary Clinton. He is one of the numbers you see in the bogus delegate counts.

He has been hearing from his constituents since February that they are upset about his endorsement. He wrote it off until election day and Sanders beat her by an average 20 points in his district. Now he fears voter apathy if she wins which will kill his re-election with Trump turning out so many more voters than is normal here for republicans. Then the newer polls started coming out. He is struggling with the idea of distancing himself from the national party and campaigning against some Clinton's key policy for his own survival.

So to be blunt, I don't think Superdelegates should exist. But they do. If their job is to make the party more successful and not let Trump win the White House, then I wouldn't hold it against any of them if they voted against her. It has worked to their advantage so far, personally, but if they dump her at the convention they won't suffer any retribution if she doesn't gain power. They will be free. Most people don't understand the stress they've been under this election and all the ones I know, do not like her. It was an endorsement to further their own career and it turns out she has failed at winning the nomination in her own right.

It's a messed up situation. Personally, I won't vote for superdelegates that do cast a vote for Clinton (which they have not yet). Fortunately, I'm not an SD so I don't have to worry about it. If my guy votes for her, I'm off his campaign.
