(Serious) I gave my brother and nephew herpes. 98% of my family has shunned me. What do I do?

CDC states the estimation is 60 to 80% of HSV-1

Where? I've actually never seen the CDC say this. They usually have the most conservative estimates of HSV1 seroprevalence.

you mentioned the higher end first

No. The CDC generally talks about the population estimate between ages 14 and 49. I'm saying at the end of age 49 80% to 90% have some form of herpes. The point is that by age 50 is extremely prevalent.

herpes can live outside the body for some time. Hours.

No. It can't.

please explain how the 4 year old and his brother got it.

Kissing is exactly how they got it. Half of people with HSV1 got it from kissing a relative as a child. That's why your statement about suing is so ridiculous. If your statement were true then there'd be a whole lot of lawsuits going on. It just doesn't happen. Show me one instance where a family member sued.

So I think somewhere along the line their clothes got launder together

What?? Ok so now I just think you're a troll. You have absolutely no idea about HSV. Read this book. It pertains mostly to HSV2 but you can still learn a lot from it. http://www.westoverheights.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Updated-Herpes-Book.pdf

Also, read through this IAMA with a herpes virologist. This is what he says about how long it can live:

how long can the virus stay outside if its host and be viable? can it stay on counter tops for the lip of a glass only to be transmitted to someone else unsuspectingly? thank you in advance for answering this I have no idea if this will be buried or not. Hope you see it. permalinksavegive gold [–]RadicalEucalyptusPhD|Immunology|Virology|Microbiology[S] 3 points 10 months ago Did see it; the virus does not exist outside of the host for very long at all, as it is enveloped. If it dries out or is treated with alcohol or something it will be dead.
