Shows with Mediocre-Bad MAL scores that are actually good

Yosuga No Sora is sub-par hentai merely fetish wish-fulfillment The only thing Yosuga no Sora has going for it [...] is animated sex scenes.

Yosuga No Sora has a pretty great OST with tracks I love like these There's a lot of really great memorable tracks on the OST from this show like this one and this one and this one -- here's some guitar work if you don't like piano/strings for whatever reason ... I could go on -- the whole OST is one of the most listenable ones from anime I've found, one of my favorites (at least try the first two!) And... It's not just my opinion by any means whatsoever, surprise: these pieces that have hundreds of thousands of fans that love them ... even though OSTs have nothing to do with hentai or incest-wish-fulfillment (?????)

honestly Amigami SS is just better in almost every way

I just got done watching Amagami SS today (that's how you spell the show's name, by the way @@) (I even did a drawing of last arc's lead in the draw-a-character thread on Reddit) and if you look at my MAL, I __gave it the same score: I never once said Yosuga was better_ (in... case... you... missed... the... thread... you're... posting... in... this... is... @@ , once again, a __thread about shows with mediocre/bad scores we disagree with_ not what's the best story of all time ... and once again, Amagami SS doesn't fall into this thread's description: I don't really know why you're bringing it up, lol! @_@)

But I'll stoop to your level and engage anyways -- the OST for Amagami SS was entirely forgettable imo (except for an OP/ED or two), whereas Yosuga's is one of my faves (and has a lot more fans!) So... There's one way I (and many others) liked Yosuga more.

The artwork for the characters is pretty good, and the stills and scenery shots have a lot of detail in them as well. It's pretty amazing considering it's half a decade old, the show was adapted from a visual novel, and it didn't have much of a budget or market/audience in the first place. And once again, while Yosuga does suffer from having not-as-great-animation-parts... I own both Yosuga and Amagami SS in the same definition, encoding, etc. Yosuga came out earlier, had a smaller budget, and once again does this thing you're criticizing it for ... even better than the one you're suggesting that's supposedly better in "almost every way", lol.

Whereas Amagami has over three times the episodes and twice as much time per arc compared to Yosuga...

When Amagami tackles the almost-better-in-every-way values/morals like ... "being shy is bad, m'kay" "don't peek at girls in the onsen" "don't peek at girls in the pool" and who could forget "get your fat friend to go on a diet"

In the "sub-par hentai wish-fulfillment painfully average story generic as fuck" Yosuga, you get infinitely more background material on every character -- scenes from childhood, pre-high-school, the summer before, the same scenes in present time from different perspectives... Yosuga covers two very complicated family structures, dealing with serious/mature issues of being forced to relinquish your previous familial relationships, live somewhere new and on your own, not having anyone you can rely on, starting your entire life over from scratch, coping with your parent's death, coping with being orphaned/your parent's abandonment... more or less, characters trying to act happy and get along together -- in order to cover up how they're trying to escape the miserable lonely lives/situations they've been placed in. Essentially, as the title of both the novel/show is called ... IN SOLITUDE WHERE WE ARE LEAST ALONE (it's truly about coping with crippling abandonment and loneliness -- trying to make meaningful relationships while dealing with the loss of others, and the fear of these relationships being abandoned once again) (too sex-hentai-predictable-and-average compared to Amagami's supposedly-infinitely-superior-in-every-way-not-generic-not-wish-fulfillment-not-sex-related plot of... when-is-junichi-beta-mc-going-to-stop-stalking-the-onsen-and-the-pool-and-tell-his-bestie-to-stop-eating-so-much-food-and-sex-up-all-these-girls-already.)

I... kind of don't want to delve into the story and use all the spoiler tags to ... tell you what the show is about if you didn't pay enough attention to care the time you actually watched it. You're likely a troll, lol at least I hope, because there's so much more to the show than the insanely small fraction you described and made the entire show out to be... Honestly I could care less if some random 12 year old online doesn't like (or even comprehend apparently) the story. I was just saying it was good.

It's certainly not "good" in the same way Amagami is (which I never said in the first place.) All I can say is that even though the characters get less than half the time in less than a third the episodes, Yosuga's characters are a lot more fleshed out, memorable, and dynamic. The person who recommended Amagami SS to me liked very different arcs than I did -- she liked the ones that felt "realistic." While that's not even the parts I liked about Amagami, and not really what I'm always looking for in anime/media-in-general... I can totally understand / respect that opinion! And hey -- means she probably wouldn't dig Yosuga no Sora like I did, because it's not really pandering for the-most-average-every-day-realistic kind of SoL. I can totally understand why a casual anime watcher would prefer Amagami SS. They're really different kinds of stories, and I enjoyed both for what they were.

But implying Yosuga is the wish-fulfillment and predictable and an average story generic as fuck version of Amagami is just... trollbait. I honestly can't take you seriously. I've been watching anime since the 90s. I've never really once found a show much like it -- (Koi Kaze on some shit-fam-/-incest levels, or some shows like SakuraSou dealing with self-doubt/devastation) far less so many covering its topics/themes/styles/plots/characters that it was "painfully average / generic as fuck."

If you honestly, honestly know so many shows all covering these same kinds of things as Yosuga No Sora... As someone who had to deal with these issues I guess you forgot the show revolves around, I would (completely seriously) love to get a list of recommendations from you.

(I suspect you're just talking out your ass, salty and butthurt though: I'm pretty sure Yosuga isn't "generic as fuck" as you insist it is... I'd love to be wrong though, lol :)! )
