I’ve dealt with people, mainly at work (fast food restaurant), who I was initially friendly with at first, but slowly overtime became closed off and grew to dislike me. I never said anything that would lead them to treat me this way, and maybe it’s partly due to my quiet and reserved demeanour, but I sense it had more to do with my general work performance since I’m a newer employee. I make mistakes, forget or just don’t know how to do something, but they’d rather talk behind my back than simply be honest. I try to limit my interactions with those people to be strictly professional and nothing more. Luckily, there are others who I’ve gotten along with on a surface level, but perhaps you just haven’t found anyone yet. I’d say just keep being friendly, respectful and lighthearted, and you’ll hopefully find a few nice folks you’ll get along with.
