Today is the 32nd anniversary of Tiananmen massacre, you often see tank man but rarely the aftermath

My wife is Chinese, not only she didn’t know about Tianmen square when I first spoke with her when we met (born and raised until university age in China), she had a hard time believing it even happened and when she saw the evidence, went to great lengths to find a reason to justify it. They have been throughly brain washed since early childhood.

I generally find that the topics which criticize the Chinese government are met very negatively by Chinese nationals (even immigrants living here). They take it extremely personal. The vast majority of Chinese people I met are amazing people but almost all share this characteristic. The extent the Chinese government had been able to exert influence and teach them their narrative is frightening.
