Too paranoid to see a specialist to weird to see anyone else

are we allowed to say that, in all likelihood, satanic ritual abuse doesn't actually exist in the outside world? feel free to delete my comment if not. SRA has been alleged in countless places, but no substantive evidence has ever emerged that it really happens, particularly not in these widespread 'webs' of abusers that are often claimed to infect all levels of society. I really recommend this programme for a good sceptical perspective on SRA: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05vx63j

I know some people, including myself, believe that false memories of abuse that has satanic/occult elements are a real but poorly misunderstood element of trauma survival. I think these memories could constitute the unprocessed recollections of genuine abuse, or possibly fantasies/dreams that have become misinterpreted as memories.

In any case, there is already a clear consensus that encouraging these memories, or treating them as a true account of the underlying abuse in DID, is actually profoundly damaging to those being treated. In the dark days when DID was very poorly treated, more emphasis was placed on locating and re-experiencing these memories than treating any other symptom, and the result was people getting re-traumatised and trusting the outside world even less. Imo you should be seeing a therapist who understands all this, and will treat these memories as part of a wider set of symptoms, not make them the ultimate focus of your treatment or convince you they're true.
