What should I take off my resume?

When a screener looks at an undergrad resume, here's what will happen: a) Detailed look at your Education, GPA, Honors b) Detailed look at your first 2-3 jobs c) Skim the rest d) Detailed look at your first 1-2 extracurrics e) Skim or skip the rest f) Skim skills and interest

As such, a few other notes for you:

  • really like your results orientation - not just talking about what you did, but the results it achieved
  • would like to see a little more 'how' - for instance, you decreased production installation time by working with internal stakeholders - but HOW did you do it? What did you uncover? What analysis did you do to uncover it? Otherwise, it's too vague
  • Be careful of unexplained or unnecessary acronyms (BEL, SEO,
  • Expand your interests; you have a whole line so use it - this is frequently where the small talk arises from before your interviews
  • Consolidate the two ZBT items; when it comes to extracurrics, only your first two will get read; as a result, you can shorten from the other ones that you have
  • why is the Bain extracurric under WE, but the BCG one under Other?
  • remove the scholarship values except for the full ride one
  • relevant coursework seems unnecessary for someone getting a degree in business administration; the ones you have listed are a baseline expectation
  • Expand on the PWC internship
  • Consider shrinking the months to shorthand; will help a bit with the clunkiness, especially the September 2013 - November 2013
  • If you need space, get rid of the Four Athens; again, so far down that it won't get read... also, something so old should not be getting more bullet points than your PWC entry
  • Your "Other Extra" will probably not get read, just a quick browse... if there's anything on there that's really important, I'd bring it up and get rid of the rest. Or you could do a line at the bottom that says, "Other Activities: Activity 1 (Position), Activity 2 (Position), Activity 3 (Position).
