That's because I grew up in the poorest country in Asia with no access to the internet, cable TV, and electricity. Another thing to add all these things are expensive as hell think of it as $1,000 a year if you converted $1 USD. Also those Tamagotchi crap it's like $100 back in the 90s. My country is still poor as hell / corrupt no way fixing it I got it after getting educated and having my uncle bring me to the U.S. to work for him at his shop.
He told I should looked into vocational to fund my career because he sure ain't funding me to get into college. So I went to a vocational route and then I got a job at the nursing home since I did completed a US based school in my country I'm already a shoe in. We have private Catholic schools in my country that was so expensive that my parents were able to get me into it. The best is that I learned English from that school and every American based studies except for histories more leading towards math and science with little bit of engineering involved which fueled my fascination in electrical engineering.
After I graduated high school I never gotten nowhere in life just continue living at my parent's house and since dad was in the United States studying / working in culinary everything is great. Then I met my uncle he talked to my dad to get me into the US so that I can somewhat study here since I really like electrical engineer and had decided to put me to work in his bodega. To me it was like, FUCK YEAH! Moment thanks Uncle Braben and like I said before he never funded my education and so did my dad since he was also became debt when he attending culinary school that he had to work on paying it and giving little-by-little to my mom back home. Mom ended up questioning about the relationship until dad went back to the home country to finally see she was cheating him.
Dad became enraged of mom's behavior for what she has done. He said to her,
"I went to school in the U.S. for culinary because dad said I could have a better future and you've decided to cheat on me with some other man."
She goes something like questioning him why he has been sending little the first four years. And that why he is always late coming for Christmas. Dad answered all those questions truthfully and he was telling the truth everything like bills, insurance, rent, school, and debts plus extra workloads he gets during Christmas and Thanksgiving seasons. My dad ended up divorcing mom later on because there was no more passion to have this relationship with mom that she cut ties with him and even me her own son. About my dad he ended up living in the U.S. alone and saving enough to buy a home to retire where I always helped him save. Then I freaking realized I just made all these up because I have nothing fascinating to tell a good story, everything about my dad was false and I never came to a poor background parents. My parents were already wealthy in my home country and together because mom was a nurse and dad was an engineer and both studied in the United States.
