Every US senator who voted against background checks and how much money they got from the NRA

I'm not debating that you're assessment is accurate, but the insinuation that politicians are being bribed to vote a certain way is arguable.

If I'm looking to make a political donation, would I give it to a candidate whose voting history is misaligned with my views and interests? Of course not.

Now I'm sure there are times when campaign contributions and other payments have been used to influence votes. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to argue against that.

But if donations didn't have a direct relationship with how an elected official voted it would be baffling, really. The purpose of these organizations is to fund those whose views are shared by their contributors. To do otherwise makes no sense.

And to view every contribution given as akin to a bribe to vote a certain way makes no sense, either. That may not necessarily be what you're personally saying, but it is certainly the popular narrative about lobby groups in general and this is as good a place as any to discuss the merits of that narrative.
