Google’s Clever Plan to Stop Aspiring ISIS Recruits

The problem with this is that what is defined as "extremist" or "radical" is decided non-transparently by government officials and their contractors. If they are manipulating search results to counter ISIS-ideology, you can bet they are using it to counter all the other ideologies contrary to "national interests," or just views they find unseemly. And given that for all intents and purposes, "national interest" is "corporate interest," there is no telling how far these kinds of manipulations can go. But don't worry! Google and the other participating platforms (including Facebook and Twitter) will assure us that they are only concerned with ISIS. If you're a cynic like me, you can't do a Google search without wondering, "What information has Google filtered from these results? What information has Google supplanted in its place?" The last paragraph at the end of the article is perfect in its Orwellian spin. "All Google wants to do is improve people's access to free information!" Clever indeed.
