Hillary is continually reinventing herself and her campaign, throwing things against the wall to see what sticks, Sanders appears to be driven by core values. He’s running because he wants to upend a broken system. She’s running because she thinks it’s her turn.

For anyone who doesn't know this, you should: there is a difference between an article, a column, and an editorial.

Basic overview:

Article = an entirely objective, unbiased report consisting of facts and quotes (which can be further broken down by type -- won't get into that here). Unfortunately, in recent times, actual articles have been substituted with click bait "headlines," personal commentary, subjective opinions, and partial quoting (note: partial quoting isn't necessarily a violation of rules, but is considered beneath generally accepted standards as it is often employed to "steer" a narrative toward the author's own views). These errors are committed more often and more egregiously the further away you get from major news sources (i.e. New York Times vs. Gawker).

Column: the opinion of a single author (i.e. op-ed). Columns contain the subjective views of a person (sometimes co-written by two persons), and are not subject to the same rigor of objectivity as articles. Perspectives/views expressed in columns are not at all necessarily the views of the publication as a whole, the section, or the editor-in-chief .

Editorial: the collective opinion of a publication. These are usually decided upon in groups, or in some forum that allows for collective idea-shaping and, eventually, majority (and often times unanimous) consensus among all involved in the publication.

When print was still around, newspapers would more clearly differentiate these pieces of writing by printing anything with an opinion (i.e. column or editorial) in italics, while articles remained in standard font. I've notice the internet has utterly obscured such distinctions, though. It seems to be a trend that readers conflate these three basic forms of journalism, and (even worse) news outlets don't really care to make these distinctions clear.

To be clear: this is a column. I've seen a deluge of comments (across many posts) calling writing like this an article. It simply is not.
